Facing surgery is one of the biggest decisions you will ever make, and it usually arrives at the worst moment: under stress, in a hurry, in a health system you do not fully know. I am Dr de Windt, MD, a specialist double board certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, and this service exists so that you never make that decision alone.
Through years inside the hospital system I have built a vast network of the best professionals on this coast, from anesthesiologists to surgeons. And I am completely independent of all of them: I do not work for any surgeon, and I take no commission from anyone I recommend. The fee for this service is agreed directly between you and me, and nobody else. So when I choose the anesthesiologist, the surgeon, the hospital and the supporting team for your case, that choice is never compromised by money changing hands. It answers to one interest only: yours.
Consultations are conducted in English or Dutch, by video anywhere in Spain, or at your residence on the Costa del Sol.

Most people end up choosing a surgeon the only way they can: through a polished website, an advertisement, or a name a friend once mentioned. None of that tells you who is genuinely excellent at the specific procedure you need.
My recommendation comes from first hand clinical insight. Through years of working inside the hospital system I know the professional landscape from within: the surgeons, the anesthesiologists, the teams, and how their patients actually do. That perspective cannot be found in any ranking or advertisement. A surgeon who is outstanding for one operation is not automatically the right hands for another, so the recommendation is always matched to your exact condition and procedure, never to a general reputation.
And I have nothing to sell you but the truth. I do not perform these operations myself, so I have no procedure to steer you toward. The only outcome I am invested in is yours.
It is whether anyone should operate at all. If you have been told you need surgery and want an honest, independent review of the diagnosis and the alternatives before committing, that is exactly what a second opinion here is: your records, your scans and your options, read carefully and explained in plain language, in English or Dutch.
If you already have a surgeon, a second opinion is often still worth having. Confirming that the plan is right is valuable in itself, and if there is a better route, the moment to find out is before the operation, not after.
A name is only the beginning. Once the right surgeon is identified, I arrange the consultations, help you understand your options and trade-offs in plain language, liaise across hospitals and departments, and make sure nothing falls between the cracks. I stay alongside you before the procedure and follow up with you through your recovery, so your care feels continuous rather than a series of disconnected appointments.
Clinical responsibility for the operation and post-operative care always remains with the operating surgeon and their hospital team. My role is to make sure you are in the right hands, and never navigating alone.
If your situation falls outside this list, I will still guide you to the right specialist.
This is personalized care. The scope and the fee are discussed openly after the initial consultation.
No one can, and you should be wary of anyone who implies otherwise. What I can do is materially improve the quality of the decision: the right diagnosis, the right procedure, the right surgeon for that procedure.
No. I am paid by you, and only by you.
The intake and second opinion consultations are available by video anywhere in Spain. In person coordination is centered on the Costa del Sol.
In confidence. English and Dutch.
A private, paid medical service. Tell me briefly what you are facing and how to reach you. Your enquiry comes straight to me, in confidence, and I usually reply personally the same day.

“I came to him with a lumbar hernia and could barely walk anymore. Instead of rushing me into an operation, he first focused on getting me physically ready. We worked on my strength and body composition so I would go into surgery in the best possible condition. He then arranged an appointment with a top spine surgeon, and I was operated on the day after that very first consultation.
The surgery went well, and my quality of life is already much better. I am still doing rehabilitation to keep getting stronger, but the difference is like night and day. What I appreciated most was how everything was arranged for me, from the preparation to finding the right surgeon to moving quickly. I felt looked after throughout the whole process.”
